Highlights from 2024 MARMED Workshops

In 2024, the MARMED Project hosted a series of impactful workshops across the Mediterranean, showcasing its commitment to advancing Maritime Clusters and the Blue Economy. These events brought together experts, partners, and participants to exchange knowledge, explore innovation, and share best practices in the maritime sector.

In Greece, the second MARMED webinar, co-hosted with Maritime Cluster Strategis, focused on cutting-edge technologies, including 5G and Hellenic Navy innovations, and the role of European projects in supporting maritime clusters. With over 30 participants, the session highlighted the value of cross-sector collaboration.

In Italy, MARMED featured prominently at the Blue Planet Economy Expoforum 2024 in Rome. Over 50 attendees joined in-person and online to discuss the pivotal role of Maritime Cluster Managers in the Blue Economy. Presentations and a roundtable by leading experts emphasized MARMED’s achievements in capacity building and fostering competitiveness.

In Portugal, the online workshop focused Blue Finance and on the Importance of leadership and strategy for effective management. The webinar explored the critical role of leadership and strategy in managing maritime clusters within the Mediterranean region. Participants gained insights into emerging trends and funding opportunities in the Blue Economy sector, while also having the chance to connect with industry experts and key stakeholders. 

In Malta, two webinars addressed key Blue Economy topics, exploring effective policy consultations and opportunities through research and innovation.
